Ogat was a planet colonized by the Klingon Empire, the home to a military training academy. (TNG novel: Kahless)

The position of Governor of Ogat was tied to one of the seats on the Klingon High Council. Kurn's seat on the Council gave him this post from his appointment in 2368 to 2372, when Chancellor Gowron stripped the House of Mogh of its lands and titles.

In 2392, on stardate 69259.56, a fleet of Gorn and Nausicaan vessels attacked the Ogat. Ja'rod was on the world at the time. After two weeks, the Klingon Defense Force secured the star system.

The attack led to Chancellor Martok to withdraw the Klingon Empire from peace negotiations with the Gorn Hegemony. (ST website: The Path to 2409)
