Olson was a Human male, and a Starfleet officer in the 23rd century of an alternate reality created by Nero's temporal incursion. In 2258 he served as chief engineer of the USS Enterprise until his death on a mission to disable the plasma drill being used by Nero to attack Vulcan. (TOS movie & novelization: Star Trek)
