OrbOfTime

The Orb of Time was one of the nine Bajoran Orbs sent to Bajor by the Prophets thousands of years ago.

Like the majority of the Orbs, the Orb of Time was taken by the Cardassians during their occupation of Bajor. In 2373 the Detapa Council decided to return the Orb to the Bajorans and the USS Defiant was sent to collect it. They also picked up what they thought was a human stranded on Cardassia but was in fact a surgically alerted Klingon, Arne Darvin, who used the Orb to take the Defiant back in time hoping to change the course of history by assassinating James T. Kirk so as to prevent him from foiling Darvin's operations in that timeframe. The crew of the Defiant were able to foil Darvin's plans before Kira Nerys was able to use the Orb to return to their own time. (DS9 episode: "Trials and Tribble-ations")

Once returned to Bajor the Orb was kept at the Temple of Iponu. In 2374 Kira used the orb again, this time to research the history of her mother's relationship with Skrain Dukat. (DS9 episode: "Wrongs Darker Than Death or Night")

By 2376 the Orb of Time, along with the other eight Orbs, was being stored at Ashalla when Bajor was almost conquered by the bluegills. (DS9 novel: Unity)

Late that year, Soloman requested permission to study the quantum properties of the Orb of Time, but was denied due to the new security restrictions. (SCE eBook: Lost Time)
