Orbital skydiving is a recreational activity described as "leaping from a spacecraft at exospheric altitudes." The participant jumps from orbit and lands on a planetary target using a parachute.

In the year 2293, James T. Kirk used a parachute while orbital skydiving over Earth. He had jumped out over the Arabian peninsula and landed near a target where Montgomery Scott and Pavel Chekov were waiting. The next day Kirk wanted to make a tri-elliptical jump where you exit the spacecraft over Northern China and make three complete orbits before making your re-entry. However he had to attend the ceremonial launching of the USS Enterprise-B . (TNG comic: "Star Trek Generations")

Sometime in the 23rd century, the Federation-style orbital skydiving suits had stopped using the induction-plasma shielding. K'Thale was a legendary one-armed Klingon who had pioneered the sport of orbital skydiving into the atmospheres of Class J gas giants. (TOS novel: Captain's Peril)
