Panama was the southernmost country of Central America, on Earth. Situated on an isthmus connecting the north and south parts of America. It was bordered by Costa Rica to the north-west, Colombia to the south-east, the Caribbean Sea to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south.

In 1940, Panama had an exhibit in the Hall of Nations at the 1939 New York World's Fair. (DS9 novelization: Far Beyond the Stars)
