Lieutenant Patten was a Starfleet officer who served as a security officer aboard the USS Enterprise in the 2260s.

In 2268, Patten took part in the Board of Inquiry convened aboard the Enterprise to review the charges of misconduct against Ensign Pavel Chekov while he was infected by the Alnathian jewel. (TOS novel: The Klingon Gambit)
