Paulvitch was a human who lived in Russia in the 20th century. He was a member of the KGB. Paulvitch was deeply suspicious of the time-lost Pavel Chekov, who appeared to have no personal history. Chekov ultimately defeated Paulvitch in a fistfight and tied him up. (TOS novel: Home is the Hunter)
