petty officer first class (PO1) is a type of rank, specifically, an enlisted rate in naval services and space forces, most notably the Starfleet of the United Federation of Planets.

A petty officer first class is an advancement of petty officer, and is one of the most basic NCO rates, a grade higher than an petty officer second class and a grade below chief petty officer in some rank structures. This grade of PO is roughly equivalent with the authority of a basic sergeant of military forces.
