Pitcairn was an island in the South Pacific Ocean, famous as being one of the islands where the mutineers of the original HMS Bounty settled, along with their Tahitian companions. The inhabitants of this island became known as Pitcairners. Koro Quintal was a descendant of European Pitcairners, as well as Maori and Australians. (TOS novel: Strangers from the Sky)
