Pollux II was a planet, an inhabited class M world located in the Orion sector of the galaxy's Beta Quadrant, in orbit of the Pollux star. Pollux II was the second planet in its system. In the 23rd century, Pollux II was the site of the Federation's most advanced laboratory. (TOS comic: "All of Me", STO - Tutorial mission: "Communication Breakdown")
History[]
In 2264, a number of starships had gone missing in the vicinity of the planet, leading the USS Enterprise to investigate. Malok, an Immortal being, owned the planet at the time, and lured in starships, telepathically living off their experiences while keeping them under a sort of hypnosis. Spock was able to defeat Malok, leaving the Katras of many long deceased Vulcans that the Enterprise had been transporting in his consciousness, presumably for all eternity. (TOS comic: "The Brain Shockers")
The Federation facility on the planet was designed and used by Armand St. John for his work on transwarp drive and later for his attempts to pull parallel versions of himself from alternate universes, though this was actually later proven to be an illusion created by Djinn. The lab had rather extensive security measures designed for it, for example there were transporter scramblers set up to prevent any transporters save for those of the Pollux II laboratory from functioning properly. (TOS comic: "All of Me")
