Pontilus was the first Romulan Praetor. A statue of him could be found in Victory Square on Romulus. (TNG novel: Death in Winter)

In the 22nd century Pontilus was the namesake of a Bird-of-Prey, the Praetor Pontilus, which was the test-bed for one of the Romulans’ first prototype cloaking devices. (ENT novel: The Good That Men Do)
