The quantum carrier-wave beam was a starship weapon present on Gorn vessels that was a development of tractor beam technology. They were incredibly vicious on enemy ships as they stripped the layer of shielding present on enemy starships. The Gorn were known to have traded the design of this weaponry to the Federation.
