Rakal was a star with an associated star system, located in the Almatha sector of the the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant, inside the boundaries of the space claimed by the Cardassian Union and near the Demilitarized Zone between Cardassian and Federation space. Rakal was a type M red star, and was in the general vicinity of Celtris, Almatha, the Bryma system and the Loval system. (ST reference: Star Charts)

History

In the 2370s decade, the fourth moon of the planet Rakal hosted a military base. In the year 2372, the Klingons considered entering the system to attack the base. (DS9 episode: "Return to Grace")

In 2375, in the mirror universe, the IKS Negh'Var rendezvoused with the IKS Ya'Vang in the Rakal system. (DS9 - Mirror Universe novel: Saturn's Children)
