René Picard was a male human, the son of Robert and Marie Picard, born in La Barre, France, in the late 2350s. He was the nephew of Jean-Luc Picard, and like his uncle, shared an interest in space exploration. (TNG episode: "Family")

Tragically, René died in a house fire, along with his father, in 2371. (TNG movie: Star Trek Generations) Jean-Luc's own son, Rene Jacques Robert Francois Picard, was named in René's honor. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many, TNG - Typhon Pact novel: Paths of Disharmony)
