Dr. Revoo was a physician and an early, fervent believer in the god Xant. He came to believe that no person was able to be righteous in the ways of Xant, and therefore created what would become known as the Redeemer virus. He sacrificed himself in order to kill all life on his world, with the exception of an obscure sect that would later find Revoo's body and notes. (NF short story: "Redemption")
