In the mirror universe, Rigel II was known as "the pleasure planet" while under the control of the Terran Empire.

The planet had vast estates owned by the empire's elite. Moreover, privileged citizens from across the empire could enjoy the planet's many circuses, casinos and joy domes which provided any number of recreational activities.

Out of the planet's original inhabitants, only 50,000 were to remain by the height of the empire; they would serve as a servant or slave class to the planet's many visitors. Most of the original inhabitants were removed from the planet in 2180 when Rigel II was declared an Imperial preserve. (Decipher RPG module: Through a Glass, Darkly)
