The Risian Hedony is the state of Risa and a Federation Member. Based on one of the most famous pleasure planets in the Federation, the Hedony worked to encourage the tourism industry that developed from its status by maintaining weather-control grids.
After an extremist group called the New Essentialist Movement temporarilly hijacked the grid in 2373, the Hedony government had a new weather modification network installed; unfortunately, the grid was often malfunctioning by 2375, when Montgomery Scott discovered how to repair the network.
