The Romulan Ambassador to the United Federation of Planets is the individual in the Romulan government responsible for representing the Romulan Star Empire and its policies to the United Federation of Planets, and vice versa. The Romulan Ambassador to the United Federation of Planets heads up the Romulan diplomatic mission to the UFP, and helps coordinate Romulan foreign policy towards the Federation. The Romulan Ambassador typically resides in the Romulan Embassy on Earth.
The post has often gone vacant due to the Star Empire's history of periodicaly isolating itself from the rest of the galaxy and withdrawing all of its diplomats. At one point, the post was held by La'orst. In the year 2293, the Romulan Ambassador was Nanclus. In the late 23rd century(?), the post was held by Kalavak. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation, TOS movie, novelization & comic adaptation: The Undiscovered Country, TNG episode: "The Neutral Zone", Star Trek Adventures module: Core Rulebook)
Kelvin timeline Edit
In 2263, following the Borg's incursion into both Federation and Romulan space, Joltair was chosen to be the empire's ambassador at the Babel Conference on Babel. However, he was poisoned by the Tellarite ambassador, Kintro and his post was briefly taken by his daughter, Pilok.(TOS - Boldly Go comics: "Issue 7", "Issue 8")
