The Roswell Army Air Field was a military installation operated by the United States of America, located eight miles south of Roswell, New Mexico. It was operated by the United States Army until the creation of the United States Air Force.

After Quark, Rom, Nog, and Odo had accidently traveled back in time to 1947, they had crashed in the New Mexico desert. The Ferengi were soon found by Army officials. They were taken to Roswell Army Air Field, and held there for examination and later questioning. Odo used his shape shifting abilities to remain hidden, and helped the Ferengi escape custody and return to the 24th century.

In the aftermath, the United States would maintain that a weather balloon had crashed - but rumors persisted for years. (DS9 episode: "Little Green Men")

The Air Force would later take over the base, and operate it as Walker Air Force Base until it was closed in 1967. (Historical Accounts).
