Saff was a female Zaldan, and an associate of the Orion Syndicate.

By 2379, she was serving as the medic on the freighter Caedera under Trenigar. As the only female junior crewman, Saff also acted as consort for the crew, maintaining a fair and equal rotation for the male crew; part of the rotation went Nolram, Gorul, R'Lash, then M'Rill.

Nolram, along with the rest of the Caedera's crew, was killed by Erovan M'Rill after an arrest warrant was issued for the Caedera following the discovery of the freighter's part in transporting contraband material to Tezwa. (TNG novel: A Time to Heal)
