Sam Kerby was a male human in Starfleet in the 23rd century. As of 2267, he held the rank of ensign, and was assigned to the USS Enterprise. That year, he piloted the shuttlecraft Copernicus, carrying Captain Kirk, Dr. McCoy, and Lt. Sulu from a formal hearing back to the Enterprise. (TOS short story: "The Leader")
