Lieutenant Sara Nave was a Human female who served in Starfleet in the late 24th century. She was assigned to the USS Enterprise-E in the late 2370s.

Born on Rigel in 2355, Nave's parents were both members of Starfleet who served aboard the USS Lowe at the time of her birth. Nave soon became a child prodigy who wanted to follow in her family's footsteps and was granted early admission into Starfleet Academy at age 16 because of her excellent academic record.

At the Academy, Nave gained the reputation of being a fun-loving hellion, but on duty she was a consumate professional. Unfortunately while attending the Academy, both of her parents were killed while on the bridge of the Lowe, which had been caught in the middle of an inter-planetary conflict. She never sought to discover the exact circumstances of her parents' deaths. Despite this deep personal tragedy, Nave graduated in 2373 (aged 18), at the top of her class, having followed an accelerated educational program.

When she first came to the Enterprise, she was a security officer, eventually becoming chief of security after the transfer of Christine Vale. After a few months in this position, she transferred her duties to the conn, becoming alpha shift conn officer. Despite her lowered position, she was still included in senior staff meetings. She soon became romantically involved with her replacement as security chief, Lieutenant Lionardo Battaglia. Shortly after the consummation of their relationship, Battaglia was assimilated by the Borg. Nave resumed her old position of security chief, and went on a mission to the Borg vessel, hoping to rescue him. She fell to her death while grappling with Battaglia.

She had freckles. She was a novice at the bat'leth and was instructed by Worf, and traditionally retired to the Happy Bottom Riding Club after practice. She had befriended medical personnel while stricken with Cardassian pneumovirus. (TNG novel: Resistance)
