Sarah Sisko was a human woman alive during the early 24th century. She was the first wife of Joseph Sisko and the biological mother of Starfleet officer Benjamin Sisko.

Biography[]

In the early 2330s, a Bajoran Prophet took control of Sarah's body. While under the Prophet's control, she married Joseph Sisko, and conceived a son, Benjamin - who was born in 2331. In 2332, the Prophet left Sarah, and once she had regained control, Sarah left Joseph and her son. For the next three years Joseph spent a great deal of time searching for her. In 2335, the year William T. Riker and Geordi La Forge were born and Data was first activated, Sarah was working in Australia as a holophotographer when she died in a hovercraft accident. One month later Joseph learned what had happened to her. Joseph Sisko soon remarried and when Benjamin was growing up, Joseph never mentioned his true parentage to him, leaving him to believe that his stepmother was his real mother. (DS9 episode: "Image in the Sand")

In 2375, Sarah appeared in a vision to her son. Jake Sisko soon found a photo of the woman in Joseph's home and when confronted with the evidence, Joseph was angry at first that the picture had been discovered, but soon revealed the truth to Benjamin. After Joseph gave Sisko a locket that had belonged to Sarah, it was discovered that the locket mentioned the Orb of the Emissary, which gave Sisko the impetus to find it and use it to contact the Prophets. (DS9 episode: "Image in the Sand")

Sisko soon discovered that the Prophet that had possessed Sarah was trapped within the Orb and, when the Orb was found on Tyree, Sisko opened it and released it. The Sarah Prophet cast out the Pah-wraith that had been in the Bajoran wormhole. (DS9 episode: "Shadows and Symbols")

Several months later, when Sisko proposed to Kasidy Yates, the Sarah Prophet appeared to Sisko and warned him that he would know only sorrow if he married Kasidy and that his greatest trial as the Emissary of the Prophets was about to begin. (DS9 episode: "Penumbra")

During Sisko and Yates' wedding ceremony, Sarah appeared to Sisko and repeated her warning. Sarah came to accept Sisko's course of action and warned him to be careful in the future. (DS9 episode: "'Til Death Do Us Part")

After Sisko confronted Dukat and imprisoned the Pah-wraiths back into the Fire Caves, Sarah appeared to Sisko, telling him he had joined with her and the Prophets. (DS9 episode: "What You Leave Behind")

During Sisko's time with the Prophets, Sarah comforted her "son" at the times he was most distressed by the experience. (DS9 - Strange New Worlds 9 short story: "Living on the Edge of Existence")
