The Sargasso sector is an area of space half a light year in diameter and 12 AUs deep surrounded by various astonomical phenomena such as black holes and quasars which induce a becalmed area of space which traps derelict ships. It was investigated by the USS da Vinci and partially cleared to make way for a space lane. (SCE novel: Sargasso Sector)
