Scarecrow was a character in both the movie The Wizard of Oz and the books it was based on.

A psychiatrist serving on USS Enterprise conjured a version of Scarecrow as a companion during a visit to the Amusement Park planet. The doctor had intended to stay on the planet and send a duplicate to the Enterprise in her place, but when she learned Scarecrow would be disassembled to create her duplicate, she decided there was no place like home.
