Scholz was a male Starfleet engineer. Soon after transferring to the USS Enterprise-E in 2379 he was part of the Sierra team to Tezwa's Kolidos Desert under Lieutenant Jim Peart. (TNG novel: A Time to Kill)

After the Enterprise captured the freighter Venezia, Scholz helped reconstruct deleted transporter logs and decrypted communication records, discovering that the crew had beamed down four containers filled with components integral to the construction of massive directed-energy weapons, such as the nadion-pulse cannons.
