Lieutenant Schuster was a Austrian male who served aboard the USS Stargazer in 2355. During the Battle of Maxia, he manned the science station until the death of Lt. Vigo forced him to take over tactical. (TNG - The Lost Era novel: The Buried Age)

Author Christopher L. Bennett's annotations state that Schuster was named after Michael Schuster, who runs a Stargazer website.
