The Securis-class was a type of starship operated by the Romulan Star Empire as a missile cruiser in the 2250s[1] of the Kelvin timeline.

Overview[]

The class was a symmetrical design, featuring a central bulk around which four arms, two above and two below, reached backwards, with the two arms on either side eventually converging at the aft of the vessels. Where the arms were parted towards the center of the vessels a further arm was placed on either side, reaching forward. Also between each set of arms, but reaching out to either side were the vessels' two weapons pods, which could fire long range and powerful charged projectile weapons.

Like its contemporaries, the Centurion-class, Cetratus-class, Gladius-class, and Patronus-class, the Securis-class could, in addition to its standard systems, be armed with the repulsion charge and holo-mines, and could be equipped with a cloaking device and energy flux. Also in common with other classes, the Cetratus-class had at least one escape pod[2].

In the 2250s members of the Securis-class were part of the Romulan force that battled starships of the Federation. (TOS video game: D-A-C)

Background[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 D-A-C gives no date, but as it features the USS Enterprise it is presumably set after the events of Star Trek, which featured the launch of the Enterprise in 2258.
  2. 2.0 2.1 D-A-C includes a feature allowing a player to launch an "escape pod" when their ship is about to be destroyed, permitting them to respawn and continue playing quicker.
  3. 3.00 3.01 3.02 3.03 3.04 3.05 3.06 3.07 3.08 3.09 3.10 In D-A-C starship names are selected and allocated at random. The game features eleven Romulan starship names which are assigned randomly to all classes of ships in the game. All Securis-class names from D-A-C are therefore also known as the names of vessels of the four other Romulan classes in the game.
