Lieutenant Sentell was a security officer aboard the USS Enterprise during Kirk's first five-year mission.

In 2270, Sentell was assigned to guard the quarters of Berlis Aknista and his companions after they were rescued by the Enterprise. During this guard duty he waved Spock straight into Berlis' quarters so that he could interview Berlis. (TOS novel: Troublesome Minds)
