Shanak was a male Vulcan who lived in the 23rd century where he became a police officer on his home planet. In 2248, he and fellow officer T'Mar were dispatched to the Sarek family residence when a Marathan attacked Amanda Grayson. After securing the captive, Sarek expressed the need to mind meld with the attacker in order to learn the reason for his assault though Shanak expressed a sense of distaste with conducting such an act.

When the young Spock tried to question Wurnall, he reacted aggressively which saw Shanak and his partner T'Mar quickly rush both Spock as well as his father Sarek to a safe distance away from the attacker. (TOS novel: Crisis on Vulcan)

Being a police officer, its possible he was a member of the V'Kor.
