The Shgin were a "war-like" humanoid civilization, from the vicinity of the Beta or Delta Quadrants, in the same galactic region as El-Auria. The Shgin were destroyed or assimilated many centuries ago by the Borg. A woman named Delcara was the only survivor of this species.

Other than the fact that Delcara sought refuge among the El-Aurians and befriended Guinan prior to the El-Aurians' destruction and scattering by the Borg, and later commandeered an ancient weapon on a quest to completely destroy all Borg, little is known about this externally very human-like species. Delcara was noted as a powerful telepath, but it is not known whether this ability was shared by all or most members of the species. (TNG novel: Vendetta)
