History and specificsEdit

Shiva was the name of a Q waiting tables in the Q Continuum. (ST - New Worlds, New Civilizations short story: "Beyond Horizons")

In 1996, a three-story shrine in the Ajorra Caves in Maharashtra contained a stone statue of Shiva at the altar. Bas-reliefs throughout the interior showed different periods from his life. One showed a fight with a demonic army, with Shiva’s four arms holding a trident, horn, drum and fire. During a meeting there between Khan Noonien Singh and a Russian, the latter was killed by a damaged frieze of Shiva. (ST - The Eugenics Wars novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 2)

In 2366, Wesley Crusher compared Shiva’s dance of the universe to Albert Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity and movements of subatomic particles. The notion inspired the creation of a weapon that would destroy thought-police one-eye robots loose aboard the USS Enterprise. (TNG novel: Gulliver's Fugitives)

In 2382, Brahma-Shiva was the name suggested by Noah Powell for a large-scale terraforming technology device which could simultaneously destroy and create a planet. The name was inspired by the Hindu deities. (ST - Typhon Pact novel: Seize the Fire)
