Shivang was a Klingon who held the rank of General in the 24th century. ShiVang commanded a Klingon flagship, whose crew included Martok and Mojjar. (DS9 episode: "Once More Unto the Breach", ST short story: "A Warrior's Path")

In the 2340s, the Romulans attacked ShiVang's starship and during the battle Martok proved his worth and was given a battlefield commission, leaving behind his duties as a civilian laborer. (DS9 episode: "Once More Unto the Breach", DS9 novel: The Left Hand of Destiny)
