Shoggoth was a Cardassian who wrote several enigma tale novels.

In 2371, Elim Garak gave Julian Bashir a holosuite program of one of Shoggoth's novels as a birthday present. (DS9 episode: "Distant Voices")

By 2376, an unknown Cardassian had found an old copy of one of Shoggoth's enigma tale novels. (DS9 novel: Cardassia: The Lotus Flower)
