Shroud IV is an inhabited planet, the fourth planet of the Shroud system, located within the Romulan Neutral Zone.
History and specifics[]
Shroud IV appeared brown and yellow from orbit. It was class M, had several continents, a breathable atmosphere, and at least one settlement. A Romulan prison was located 25 kilometers north of the settlement. One native lifeform was similar to the Valius plant that grew on Rigel VII, whose roots had anesthetic properties. The planet was notorious for black market trading in rare items.
In 2269, the starship USS Enterprise was escorted from Lekythos to Shroud IV by a Vas Hatham-class Romulan bird-of-prey, en route passing Tartalus, Rotron, Dromos, and Kallion in Romulan territory, as well as Girga in the Neutral Zone.
A landing party visited a settlement on the surface, where they saw Harry Mudd attempting to barter Starfleet access codes for a cloaking device and dilithium from two Romulans. Shortly afterward, Mudd was arrested and taken to the prison, but the landing party enabled his escape.
As the Enterprise departed Shroud IV for Sigma Iotia II, the bird-of-prey attacked, seeking retribution for interfering to free their prisoner Mudd. The Enterprise was forced to return fire and destroy the attacking ship. (TOS video game: 25th Anniversary – NES)
