Siberia was a location on the planet Earth, on the Asian continent.
In 1908, an unmanned Vulcan robot probe in the Sol system diverted a cometary fragment heading for a highly populated area of central Europe, directing it instead toward sparsely populated region of Siberia, near the Tunguska River. (TOS novel: Prime Directive)
