(Redirected from Singh (Yeoman))
See Singh for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.

Singh was a member of Starfleet, a Human descended from the peoples of India on Earth. Singh served as supervisor of technicians aboard the USS Enterprise in the 2260s.

Early in the five-year mission, Singh had a reputation of riding all the technicians hard, and was particularly unflattering of his views of command division officers who were just passing through his departments. (TOS - The Janus Gate novel: Present Tense)

Lieutenant Singh was working in one of the ship's auxiliary bridges when James T. Kirk brought the Nomad probe to him for data transfer star charts from the computer. (TOS episode: "The Changeling")

Later in the Enterprise's mission, one of Yeoman Singh's assigned duties as an enlisted technician were shifts working in laundry and recycling in the lower decks of the secondary hull, where he had gone so far as to work with Yeoman Brunowski to rig a warning system to let them know when a senior lieutenant was approaching the laundry area. (TOS novel: Crossroad)

Singh was played in TOS by actor Blaisdell Makee, who also played another crewman, Spinelli. Singh was alternately referred to as a senior technician (in Present Tense), a lieutenant (in "The Changeling") and as a yeoman (in Crossroad). It is possible he had some sort of brevet rank which later expired, or that he was demoted from, or that he filled some kind of unspecified position between the enlisted and officer ranks that warranted him seniority enough to be called "lieutenant", but did not give him full officer status.
