Siryk was a Vulcan, and a three-dimensional chess Grand Master in the 19th century. He was famed for developing the Siryk Variations, a chess tactic by which strong and weak pieces were arranged in an interwoven pattern, which created a near impenetrable defense that did not permit much leeway for a sudden offense.
