The Sleekback racing beetle was an animal lifeform native to Ferenginar, noted for its sleek shelled back. Sleekback racing beetles were large enough to be ridden by Ferengi jockeys, and capable of causing serious injury or death to Ferengi by trampling.

Sleekback racing beetles were raced in Ferengi culture, often in high stakes competitions. The richest of these races was the Latinum Mandible.

Famed wooly slug herder Nix long had a passion for Sleekback racing beetles, and began breeding them after resigning from his career as a slugboy. His two finest beetles were named "Wisdom" and "Luck". (DS9 reference: Legends of the Ferengi)
