Slug-o-Cola is a Ferengi beverage produced by the Slug-o-Cola Bottling Company. The drink is green in color and claims to have forty-three percent live algae in every bottle. (DS9 episode: "Profit and Lace")
History and specifics[]
Its history stretches back over three hundred Ferengi years as of 2374, with its slogan, "The Slimiest Cola in the Galaxy", and its accompanying jingle unchanged for that long. (DS9 episode: "Profit and Lace")
Slug-o-Cola was created by a consortium of beverage makers who were all on the verge of bankruptcy by the success Eelwasser. At least forty years after Vorp and Sluggo had first gone into business making the long established drink, the consortium offered Sluggo shares in their company as long as they could name it after him. Soon after, Slug-o-Cola gained more than seventy percent of the beverage industry. (DS9 reference: Legends of the Ferengi)
In 2374, sales of Slug-o-Cola had flattened out, while Eelwasser had made some impressive gains. Disguised as Lumba, Quark suggested that Chairman Nilva should target the Ferengi female population. (DS9 episode: "Profit and Lace")
The the Post-Khitomer era Commissioner Nilva offered an investment membership to the governments of the United Federation of Planets, Cardassian Union, Klingon Empire and Romulan Star Empire where an investment of 100 bars of latinum was rewarded with three crates of Slug-o-Cola.
