SummaryEdit

Soliloquy is prose, written by Marguerite B. Thompson. It was originally published in Star Trek: The New Voyages 2, a collection of short stories published by Bantam Books in 1978.

The poem is written in the first person sense from Mr. Spock's viewpoint. It expresses his feelings of being torn between being Human and Vulcan.

The final lines of this monologue are, "What will they find when I am ripped apart? 'I love you, Captain,' written on my heart."

InformationEdit

  • Kirk/Spock relationship - This poem is a rare example of a licensed work that alludes to a more-than-platonic relationship between Kirk and Spock, as popularised more often in unofficial slash fiction. Other licensed stories which hint at this relationship include the TOS short story: "The Winged Dreamers" and the first printing of the TOS novel: Killing Time.
