Solok and Benjamin Sisko were in the same class at Starfleet Academy. Their rivalry began when Solok and other Vulcans approached Sisko and several other cadets in the Launching Pad. Solok told Sisko he was doing research on "illogical human bonding rituals" and that Vulcans were superior, which Sisko took offense at. The drunk Cadet Sisko then challenged Solok to a wrestling match, which the Vulcan easily won.
In 2375, the T'Kumbra arrived at Deep Space 9 for repairs. Solok inflamed their rivalry further by pointing out that he had been awarded two Christopher Pike Medals of Valor to the one Sisko was just awarded. He took the opportunity to challenge Sisko to a baseball game against his team, the Logicians. Although Solok's team won, he was irked that the Niners celebrated "manufactured triumph" where he thought none existed. (DS9 episode: "Take Me Out to the Holosuite")
During the Gateways Crisis, Solok and his crew were assigned to chart all of the locations of Iconian gateways and where they led to. (TNG - Gateways novel: Doors Into Chaos; DS9 - Gateways novel: Demons of Air and Darkness)
In August 2376, Solok and the T'Kumbra were sent to destroy the USS Gryphon. Just before the Akira-class starship was destroyed, Colonel Kira Nerys sent Solok a message which read "manufactured triumph". Solok ordered the T'Kumbra to stand down. He later beamed aboard the Gryphon, telling Kira she was lucky that he was present. (DS9 - Mission Gamma novel: Lesser Evil)
During the Borg Invasion of 2381, the T'Kumbra was part of a massive allied fleet assembled at the Azure Nebula tasked with launching a counter attack on the Borg. When an armada of over seven thousand Borg cubes appeared, the entire allied fleet, save for the USS Voyager, was destroyed. It is unknown whether Solok was still captain of the T'Kumbra at this time. (ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals)
