Sonak

Sonak was a Vulcan Starfleet commander who was appointed as science officer aboard the USS Enterprise on the recommendation of Admiral James T. Kirk in 2273.

Unfortunately, Sonak was killed during a transporter accident while trying to beam aboard the Enterprise. (TOS movie: Star Trek: The Motion Picture)
