The Jihad

Tchar with the Soul of Skorr sculpture.

The Soul of the Skorr or Soul of Alar was a notable religious artifact pertaining to the Skorr civilization.

History and specifics[]

Made of sculptured indurite, the artwork was embedded with the brain patterns of Alar, a noted pacifist and religious leader whose teachings sparked a reformation of peace among the aggressive, warlike Skorr in the 21st century.

In 2270, Prince Tchar plotted to drive his people into frenzy and reignite their warring passions by stealing the Soul. He and accomplices hid the sculpture within a temple on the Mad Planet. The theft was kept secret from the general population, while the Vedala organized scouting parties to recover it as quickly as possible. When three teams were lost on the world, Vedala recruited James T. Kirk, Spock, Sord, Em/3/Green, and Lara to join Tchar on the fourth expedition. They managed to enter the locked temple, finding the artifact hovering within an energy field out of reach. Despite Tchar's best efforts to stop them, the team was able to grab hold of him and the artifact, then request recovery from the Vedala, and the artifact was safely returned. (TAS episode & Log Five novelization: The Jihad)

Alternate timelines[]

In an alternate timeline beset by the temporal anomaly crisis, Tchar was pulled into the late 24th century along with the Soul of Skorr sculpture. (ST video game: Timelines)

The unofficial Concordance described it as "a golden lacing of three Möbius strips".
