South Dakota is a geopolitical subdivision of the United States of America.

Mount Rushmore is located in southwestern South Dakota. The town of Deadwood, which was once the setting of a holodeck program that Worf, Alexander Rozhenko, and Deanna Troi once particpated in is also located in the state.
