Starbase 257

Starbase 257 is a United Federation of Planets space station. It is not particularly distant from Deep Space 9.

In the event of an attack on DS9 by hostile forces such as the Dominion, ships stationed at Starbase 257 were to travel there to assist the USS Defiant and the Danube class runabouts in protecting the space station. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual)

During the Dominion War, Starbase 257 came under attack by several Jem'Hadar fighters. Jake Sisko and Nog had just left the Starbase before the attack. (DS9 episode: "Valiant")
