Starbase 61 was a Federation starbase facility that was operated by Starfleet in the early 24th century.

The USS Stargazer headed to the starbase in 2333 after being badly crippled during in an incident along the Romulan Neutral Zone which saw a planet unexpectedly explode near the Stargazer's position. Captain Daithan Ruhalter was killed during the explosion, and Lieutenant Commander Jean-Luc Picard assumed command and got the ship back to base. (ST video game: Legacy)
