Starbase 74 was a Federation starbase located in orbit of planet Tarsas III.

History and specifications[]

The year 2356 saw the starbase as a target for a Tal Shiar attack which was foiled by Telek R'Mor, Jekri Kaleh, the crew of the USS Voyager and the Empress. (VOY - Dark Matters novels: Cloak and Dagger, Ghost Dance, Shadow of Heaven)

In 2362, Starfleet research and development of the stealth suit was conducted at Starbase 74. Lieutenant Dar Ableen was assigned to the supply office on Starbase 74 at this same time. (SCE eBook: Security)

In late 2363, Commander Orfil Quinteros was receiving command training in preparation for his assignment as commanding officer of Starbase 74. By mid-2364, Quinteros had completed his training and was in command of the base. (TNG short story: "Meet with Triumph and Disaster"; TNG episode: "11001001")

In 2364, the USS Enterprise-D docked at Starbase 74 to undergo a hardware upgrade for its computer systems, which was performed by a group of Bynars. During the refit, the Bynars hijacked the Enterprise and took the starship to Bynaus. The Enterprise was later returned to the starbase by Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Commander William T. Riker. While there, Tasha Yar, Worf and other crewmembers were challenged to a game of Parrises Squares by some maintenance personnel, in which Yar performed rather well. (TNG episode: "11001001", TNG novel: Survivors)

In the year 2365, this base repaired a Federation starship with the registry NCC-30532 that was under the command of Starfleet Captain Peter Lauritson. (TNG episode: "The Measure of a Man")

This repair was mentioned as part of mission information visible on a computer viewscreen at Data's JAG hearing.

Alternate realities[]

In the Kelvin timeline, Starbase 74 was located in the Gemet star system in the 23rd century. (ST video game: Fleet Command)
