Starbase MI-17 was a Federation Starfleet starbase in operation in the 23rd century. Unlike most Federation starbases, MI-17 was strictly a military installation, and was commanded by Commodore Bright in the mid-2260s.

In late 2267, Captain Henson contacted the USS Enterprise and informed Captain James T. Kirk of Commodore Bright's orders to report to Vulcan and take on medical personnel bound for the scientific colony on Nisus. (TOS novel: The IDIC Epidemic)
