Sulamid

Memory Beta, the wiki for licensed Star Trek content.

The Sulamid are a species native to the Alpha or Beta Quadrant. They are members of the Federation.

A Sulamid is between two and three meters tall and resembles a bundle of red and purple tentacles, constantly moving and changing color. At the top of bundle are eight stalked eyes with triangular pupils. They possess octocameral brains, with eight separate personalities. They have a mouth hidden inside their many tentacles, with sharp teeth. The species is composed of twelve genders, all of whom insist they're male, especially the ones that bear children.

The Sulamid also have a multi-chambered heart. (TOS novel: Dwellers in the Crucible)

In 2276, a Sulamid was serving as a steward on the Vega. He had blue-green tentacles. (TOS novel: The Romulan Way)

In 2376, two Sulamids were drinking in Quark's on Deep Space 9. They left the bar without paying when Quark was distracted by the arrival of Gash. (DS9 novel: Ferenginar: Satisfaction is Not Guaranteed)

As of 2380, Sulamid's representative to the Federation Council also served as one of the "back eight" members of the Federation Security Council. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)
